Individuals, organizations and businesses may adopt a designated area within the County for a period lasting at least one year. Throughout that time, group members come together to keep their spot clean, litter free and beautiful.
As a region-wide public service initiative, askHRgreen.org educates, engages and motivates citizens to make good environmental choices here in Hampton Roads. We are a force and a resource, working to help you improve and protect our waterways, infrastructure and recycling activities through information and inspiration.
The Keep America Beautiful® Great American Cleanup® is the nation’s largest community improvement program, which takes place annually in an estimated 15,000 community events nationwide.
Local volunteers have removed over 7 million pounds of trash from County roadsides and illegal dump sites during the annual Spring Cleanup over the last 4 decades. Each year volunteers give their time and energy to collect trash in areas where it would have otherwise polluted the environment.
The Litter League helps individuals, families, organizations and businesses to perform cleanups in their local areas. Litter League kits provide groups with everything they need to perform a cleanup, including a 5-gallon bucket, litter grabbers, safety vests, disposable gloves and trash bags.
