Amblers House
The Amblers House Restoration Project (formerly known as the Vermillion House), located at 2205 Jamestown Road, will repair the exterior features of the historic home which have fallen into disrepair. The proposed exterior restoration measures has been reviewed by the Department of Historic Resources to maintain the property listing on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park
The Chickahominy Riverfront Park Improvements will provide improved infrastructure to the County’s park located on John Tyler Highway (Route 5) and fronting the Chickahominy River and Gordon’s Creek.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park Living Shoreline
This project involves the design and construction of shoreline stabilization through the establishment of living shorelines along the Chickahominy River and Gordon Creek. The project involves a living shoreline with breakwater and beach nourishment on the west side of the park along the Chickahominy River, and marsh creation and stabilization using coir logs and rock marsh sills on the north side along Gordon Creek.

Clara Byrd Baker School
This project consists of the renovation and retrofit of the stormwater treatment facilities at the Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School. The primary stormwater detention BMP collects runoff from a portion of the entrance drive and the entire school parking lot.

Columbia Drive
This project will provide repairs and improvements necessary for acceptance of the road by the Virginia Department of Transportation. The project will include stormwater structure repairs, asphalt repairs, concrete V-ditch repairs, and other work required by the State.

Community Center
This project consists of the installation of a 600-kilowatt generator at the James River Elementary School/Frink Community Center. The Community Center is to serve as a general shelter during various emergencies but it currently lacks emergency power capabilities.

Deere Circle
The project will repair dilapidated stormwater structures on Deere Circle along with installation of new in-channel structures to stabilize the banks and provide energy dissipation of the stormwater flow.

Essex Court
This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from the upstream cemetery and Scott’s Pond neighborhood.

Fire Station 1
The James City - Bruton Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad in Toano was originally built on the former Toano High School site.

Fire Station 4
James City County Fire Station 4 was originally built around 1980 and is in need of replacement. The new building will be approximately 14,400 square feet with a 3 vehicle bay facility, living quarters for up to 12 individuals, offices and space for training and storage.

Forest Glen
Forest Glen Drainage Improvements. This project consists of repairs to the storm sewer system in portions of the Forest Glen Neighborhood. This project, along with neighborhood education and coordination with VDOT to maintain their portions of the system, should help mitigate flooding issues in portions of the neighborhood.

Freedom Park
This project consists of the construction of a pervious paver parking lot adding 30 parking spaces, 2 picnic shelters, some additional sidewalks, accommodations for a playground and a patio on the rear of the Freedom Park Interpretive Center.

Grices Run Stream Restoration
The Grices Run Stream Restoration will stabilize erosion in an area of the County which has highly erodible soils and uncontrolled runoff from upstream development that was created prior to stormwater management regulations. The project includes two unnamed tributaries to Grices Run flowing directly into the James River.

Human Services Center
The James City County Human Services Center was originally built around 1984 and is in need of renovations. The renovations include a complete roof replacement of the asphalt shingle roof, electrical panel upgrades, improved lighting, HVAC upgrades and renovation of finishes, doors and furnishings in the central portion of the building which comprises the public access/waiting area.

James City County Library Stormwater BMP
The existing Stormwater BMP facility at the James City County Library will be retrofit so that it provides a higher level of water quality treatment and reduce its maintenance costs.

James City County Recreation Center
There was a pool of funds that were allocated in FY2013 to perform several renovation items for the Recreation Center. This report covers renovations to upgrade the condition of the community rooms, the kitchen, and restroom facilities.

James River Elementary School
This project, located in the headwaters of Grices Run on James River Elementary School property, consists of the stabilization of an intermittent stream channel to reduce erosion and the installation of a bioretention stormwater facility to improve stormwater runoff water quality.

James Terrace
The James Terrace Subdivision stormwater and drainage improvements will provide improved routing in combination with additional stabilization measures to prevent erodible areas from forming and mitigate pockets of flooding in the future.

Jamestown Beach
This project consists of 500 linear feet of shoreline stabilization and creation of a paddle craft launch area.

Jamestown Beach Event Park Paving Project
Perform maintenance to existing roadways and parking areas by filling potholes and degraded road surfaces and installation of new asphalt on roadways that service the park. Enhance accessibility to parking areas in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from the upper east branch of the Mill Creek Watershed.

Jolly Pond Convenience Center
The Jolly Pond Convenience Center Improvements project is composed of several site improvements. The improvements include correcting drainage issues in the current vegetative debris drop-off area as it is prone to flooding.

Jolly Pond Road
This project involves the design and construct turnarounds at either termini on Jolly Pond Road. The project is required to provide for the safety of the travelling public.

Kingspoint
This project consists of the correction of an erosion problem caused primarily by drainage from Southpoint Drive. The erosion is in a steep channel adjacent to environmentally sensitive areas with the potential to damage a residential structure.

Mid County Park
This project includes the razing of the existing office building and timber-framed Kidsburg. Kidsburg will be replaced, but its design and theme will be retained in the new playground structures.

Oxford Road
The Oxford Road Stream Restoration will repair drainage infrastructure and protect property and sewer infrastructure by stabilizing erosion in an area of the County which has highly erodible soils and runoff from upstream development.

Recreation Center Hospital Space Renovation
Renovate the current cardio-room and the space previously occupied by Sentara at the James City County Recreation Center to accommodate a new stretching area, a personal training room, a yoga studio, and a newly relocated and expanded cardio-room.

Recreation Center Irrigation & Field Renovations
The James City County irrigation and field renovations project will restore the two multipurpose fields at the Rec Center back to original specifications, promoting proper stormwater drainage, improved playability and aesthetics. This project includes the revitalization of the existing soils to a depth of 5 inches. Both fields will be vegetated by a new, aggressive, wear tolerant, reduced water needs hybrid Bermudagrass.

Stonehouse Elementary School
This project consisted of the repair of a failed stormwater management facility and the eroded outfall channel that receives the discharge from the facility.

The Foxes
This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from upper headwater areas of the Mill Creek Watershed.

Toano Stream Restoration
This project involves restoring a stream channel that receives drainage from the Toano area just below the intersection of Richmond Road and Forge Road. The stream is currently unstable and eroding. The goal of the project is to restore this degraded stream and improve water quality in the watershed.

Veterans Park
This project will refurbish the entire court surface, currently 2 Pickleball courts and 2 tennis courts, and replace with 8 Pickleball courts.

This project consists of the repair and retrofitting of a failed stormwater management facility at the Warhill Sports Complex.

Warhill Sports Complex Artificial Turf
The Warhill Sports Complex Artificial Turf Replacement project will provide improved playing surfaces to the existing seven artificial turf fields.

This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from the upper east branch of the Mill Creek Watershed.

Woodland Farms Phase II Stream Restoration
The Woodland Farms Phase II Stream Restoration project will restore approximately 2,385 linear feet of degraded stream channel within the Taskinas Creek - York River watershed within James City County, promoting long term stability and function. This project includes the stabilization of the channel and establishment of a new floodplain elevation within the existing eroded channel and/or reconnection of the channel to the original floodplain elevation.

This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from Richmond Road and adjacent commercial developments in the Lightfoot area.
